2010 Picnic Volunteers

Slow Food Toronto and Evergreen are hosting the third annual Picnic at the Brick Works. This eco-gastronomic fundraiser celebrates local food producers who will team up with award-winning chefs as they work side-by-side to offer the best locally-sourced produce, artisan products, wine and beer.

This year, the Picnic will provide a virtual tour of the culinary regions of southern Ontario.  Volunteers will help as volunteer leads (event management experience required), welcome hosts, registration attendants, silent auction, food and beverage personnel, set-up and take-down assistants, emergency co-ordinators (with First Aid/CPR training), security attendants, traffic attendants and bike valets. By volunteering you will be helping to make Picnic 20010 a success and have a positive impact on the local food movement.

What you bring: A friendly personality, a positive, hard-working attitude, and a commitment to the event. You must be over 19, as alcohol is served.

When and where: Varies depending on position. Specific shifts are Saturday, October 2, 1–5pm (set-up); Sunday, October 3, 9am–3pm/1–6pm or 4–7pm (take-down). The event itself is from noon–4pm.

Evergreen Brick Works is located at 550 Bayview Avenue, Toronto (view map and directions). Further details regarding free shuttle bus transportation to follow once volunteering is confirmed. There will be no parking on-site.

How we’ll support you: All volunteers will receive orientation and supervision the day of the event, as required by their role. Team leaders will need to attend an orientation session prior to the event.

Perks: All volunteers will be able to enjoy cuisine provided by farmers and chefs during the event and are invited to the Picnic post-reception!

Good to know: The event happens rain or shine. For more information about the Picnic, visit evergreen.ca/picnic.

If this sounds like you: Please e-mail your name, phone number(s), email address, preferred role and availability to Voula Halliday, Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Picnic at voula@slowfood.to by Friday, September 17. We will do our best to accommodate your position requests.
